Erik Pojar

Resume: english / german.
My name is Erik Pojar. I was born on January 2nd, 1973. Although I was born in the U.S.A. I have been living in Vienna, Austria most of my life.

I got interested in computers at the age of 13 and programmed ever since. Soon, computer graphics became my primary interest.

Thus, I got involved in the european pc demo scene as a coder for Surprise! productions. I wrote a few fairly successfull demos, among them: Copper and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

In 1992, I started studying computer science at the Technical University of Vienna but soon I got distracted by various jobs:

In 1995, I wrote the pc game Prototype and (a little bit of) Whales Voyage for neo Software
Later, in 1996, I started as a programmer at Reality 2, an Austrian VisSim company. Eventually I became Reality2's Head of Development and managed the development of two military flight simulators for the Royal Dutch Air Force. (We did all the visual simulation, not the actual flight sim)

During my time at Reality2, my interests shifted a bit away from computer graphics and towards software engineering in general, platform independent development and project management.
In late 2000, I returned to neo Software, to become their Head of Research and Development.
In 2003, neo software became Rockstar Vienna and I recently moved out of R&D into active game development. I worked on Max Payne for the XBox, and later was the lead programmer of Max Payne 2 for the PS2 and XBox. Afterwards I became the lead programmer for an unnanounced next generation console game title. Due to the sudden closure of Rockstar Vienna in May 2006,I unfortunately couldn't complete this project.

After a long vacation, I moved on to do some project work for Hybrid Graphics in September 2006. In April 2007 I joined Team Vienna as a partner.

When I'm not programming, I spend my time cooking and of course with my wife and daughter.
